Beta v1.1 — Pumpkin Squashing is in beta testing. You may run into bugs or glitches here and there. Thank you for your patience.
Short version: this site doesn't ask who you are, doesn't set cookies, doesn't run analytics, and doesn't send anything you do here to a server. What little it remembers, it remembers on your own device.
Placeholder text. Read it against how the site actually behaves before launch, and have counsel look at anything that makes a promise.
Who this covers
This policy is for www.pumpkinsquashing.com (Pumpkin Squashing), operated by Project Research LLC. It does not cover any other site you reach by following a link away from here.
Information we do not collect
- No account, sign-up, or login of any kind exists.
- No name, email address, or contact details are requested to play.
- No cookies are set.
- No analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers run on this site.
- No location, camera, microphone, or contacts access is requested.
The page's content security policy sets connect-src 'none',
which stops the page's own code from making network calls once it has
loaded — not a promise on paper, but a technical restriction the
browser enforces.
The one exception: an embedded video
Several pages, this one included, carry a short decorative video loop. Unlike everything else on this site, that file is hosted on Imgur, not on our own server, so loading the page causes your browser to make a separate request to Imgur for it — which means Imgur, not us, can see the IP address and browser details that request carries, under its own privacy practices. The video is muted, purely decorative, and hidden from screen readers; if this bothers you, most browsers let you block third-party media per-site, and doing so won't affect anything else here.
What is stored on your device
Your settings — sound, music, falling leaves, gourd size, how many
spawn at once, and motion — are saved to your browser's
localStorage under the key pumpkinsquash.settings.v1
so they hold between visits. This data stays on your device; it is never
transmitted anywhere, and we cannot see it.
The smashed tally and the per-piece scoreboard live only in the page's memory for the current visit. They are not saved anywhere and reset when you reload or close the tab. "Start the count over" in Settings clears the visible counters early; clearing your browser's site data for this domain removes the saved settings as well.
Ordinary server logs
Like any web server, the one that delivers these files may keep a standard access log — the requesting IP address, browser identification, the file requested, and the time — for operating and securing the site. These logs are not linked to any identity we hold, are not used for tracking or profiling, and are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.
Children's privacy
Pumpkin Squashing is built so it can be handed to a child without a conversation about data. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and has no account system for a child (or anyone else) to create. Nothing here is designed to identify or track a visitor of any age.
Sharing and sale of information
There is nothing collected here to share or sell, and none is shared or sold.
Security
How to report a security issue with this site is described on the security page.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Meaningful changes will be described in plain terms, not just a new date.
